Just wrote an 8,500-word short story today. It is a detective story, based in the Lesbian Pirates universe, and featuring a couple characters who've been featured before. It is tawdry and salacious and filled with forbidden passions.
I'm planning to illustrate the story, and I'll put it up as a donation incentive. Right now, it's 17 pages typed on letter-sized paper with no illustrations. So adding illustrations and putting it on the smaller, comic-book-sized paper, this thing will easily be 40 pages. That's like a small novel. Very small novel.
I might try writing a few more and make a collection.
Writing short stories is good for the writer's soul. Writing long, sweeping epics or serials takes forever, and sometimes, it just feels good to get something
done.
Speaking of having things done, I have a new Lesbian Pirates page done, finally, but it has taken over an hour so far just to save. I check back on it periodically, but mostly, I've either been writing or reading my Scott Pilgrim books today, waiting for the computer to do something.
I think within an hour it should be up.
But then, I just jinxed myself by saying that.
